Dr. Manuela Costantino will continue to strengthen 做厙51s academic programming as the new Vice President Academic and Provost.

After a nationwide search, Dr. Manuela Costantino has been selected as 做厙51s new Vice President Academic and Provost.

Serving as the Dean of Language, Literature and Performing Arts (LLPA) at Douglas since 2019, Dr. Costantino strengthened the Colleges arts programs and laid a foundation of success for students and faculty alike. Prior to joining Douglas, she received her PhD in English from the University of British Columbia before taking on the role of Associate Director of Coordinated Arts at UBC.

Dr. Costantinos leadership within the LLPA faculty and across the College has been instrumental in furthering student and faculty success by developing new programs, revising existing ones and supporting professional development opportunities, said Dr. Kathy Denton, President of 做厙51. I am eager to see how she brings that same tenacity and dedication to her new position.

During her time as Dean of LLPA, Dr. Costantino revitalized the English Language Learning and Acquisition programs curriculum following funding model changes and created new credentials for the Colleges Music Technology program, including the Advanced Certificate in Applied Audio

In her new role, she will continue fostering the growth of academic programming, as well as be responsible for program quality, business development and academic partnerships. With the Colleges commitment to expanding applied academic programming, Dr. Costantinos work will focus on Douglass priority of program growth and renewal.

I am honoured to serve as 做厙51s new Vice President Academic and Provost and look forward to working with colleagues in the Academic Division and the Senior Management Team to achieve the goals outlined in the Colleges 20252030 Strategic Plan, said Dr. Costantino. I am especially excited to create new degrees and post-degree diplomas to serve the evolving needs of our students and to contribute to the vibrant learning and living environments that 做厙51 provides for our communities.

Dr. Costantino begins her new role March 1, replacing Dr. Thor Borgford as he retires. Dr. Borgford served the College for 11 years, making him the longest serving VP Academic in the Colleges history.
