Campus facilities and sustainability

The Facilities and Sustainability Department is responsible for planning and developing °µÍø51 facilities, operating related services and for the ongoing maintenance of the College and its equipment.

The Department's goal is to maintain buildings, grounds and equipment at a high operational level, and to provide students, faculty and staff with a well maintained and pleasing campus environment.

Safety, Security and Risk Management

Creating a safe, secure and healthy environment is vital for students, staff and visitors to pursue their learning, work and activities at °µÍø51. 

Safety, Security and Risk Management is in charge of security operations, emergency preparedness and planning, as well as occupational health and safety. We all have a role in creating and maintaining a safe and secure college environment.

Future student housing at 808 Royal

°µÍø51 is constructing a new, modern academic building that includes our first ever student housing. This 20 storey project will expand the vibrant college community and be located across the street from the current New Westminster Campus at Eighth Street and Royal Avenue.

New Westminster Campus mural

Raven Figures mural

The mural at the New Westminster Campus, titled Raven Figures, was created in October 2020 to commemorate Douglas's 50th anniversary. Located on the south wall of the concourse, the mural was designed and painted by Coast Salish artist Carrielynn Victor, who also designed °µÍø51's coat of arms.

Coquitlam Campus welcome figure

The welcome figure at the Coquitlam campus, titled Salmon Woman Welcomes Salmon Home, was designed and carved by Coast Salish carver Gerry Sheena. The figure was commissioned in 2020 to commemorate Douglas's 50th anniversary.

AC, building, custodial and heating

From clean classrooms to comfortable study spaces, our Facilities team keeps everything running smoothly. Need a spill cleaned up or furniture moved? That's our Building Services team. Our custodians handle garbage removal and daily cleaning, while the HVAC crew makes sure the temperature and air quality are just right.

Shipping and Receiving services

Need to send or receive something on campus? The Shipping and Receiving team is here to help. They coordinate deliveries, shipments and campus wide distribution, making sure materials get where they need to go, safely and on time.

The New Westminster Shipping and Receiving and Mail facility is located in Room 1015. Vehicle access to the loading dock is from the north end of Lorne Street.

The Coquitlam Shipping and Receiving and Mail facility is located in Room A1200. Vehicle access to the loading dock is on the west end of the Campus.
