Applicants to the College must meet one of the General Admission criteria and the English Language Proficiency requirements of the College for admission to most programs. Limited Enrolment and Open Plus programs may have additional program-specific admission requirements.
All applicants for admission to the College must satisfy at least ONE of the following criteria:
- British Columbia secondary school graduation or equivalent;
- One course short of British Columbia secondary school graduation, or equivalent;
- Nineteen (19) years of age or older by the end of the first month of the first semester of attendance;
- Seventeen (17) years of age on the first day of the first semester of attendance, and has not been enrolled at a school for a minimum of one year;
- Completion of a certificate or equivalent from a special needs program and has been in school for 12 years, or has received an Evergreen or Leaving School Certificate
1. Academic requirements
Undergraduate (diploma, associate degree and bachelor degree) programs:
- All applicants must meet at least ONE of the following criteria:
- High school graduation from BC or another equivalent school system; with a minimum overall average of 60% (or equivalent) in their final year of high school.
- Nineteen (19) years of age or older by the end of the first month of the first semester of attendance.
- Seventeen (17) years of age on the first day of the first semester of attendance, and has not been enrolled at a school for a minimum of one year.
- In addition, applicants must have:
- Minimum final grade of “C” or 60% (or equivalent) in Grade 11 Mathematics or equivalent (for most programs).
Post-Degree and Post-Baccalaureate programs:
- Graduation from a recognized degree granting post-secondary institution with a minimum 3-year bachelor degree; and
- Minimum cumulative grade point average of 60% (or equivalent) during the bachelor degree program.
2. English language proficiency
You are required to demonstrate proficiency in the English language prior to admission to 51. You may demonstrate English language proficiency by completing and submitting proof of one of the following:
English is the primary language of instruction at 51. All applicants to the College must demonstrate proficiency in English by providing proof of completing one of the English proficiency requirements. View English proficiency requirement.

A non‑refundable application fee is required to apply: $38.90 for domestic students and $100 for international students.

Register for programs and courses
This is how you register if you’re taking courses that add up over time towards a credential such as a Diploma, Associate’s Degree, Bachelor’s Degree or Post-degree Diploma. These credits also often transfer to other colleges and universities. Our Student Success Advisors can help make sure you’re on the right track.

International students
New international students are automatically registered in at least 9 credits worth of appropriate courses for their first semester. To view your course schedule, log in to your myAccount. > Registration > Registration and Schedule > View Your Schedule.
