At Douglas, we believe that cost shouldn’t be a barrier to success. That’s why we offer some of the most affordable tuition in B.C., along with financial aid, scholarships and flexible payment options to help you manage your money and your studies.

A quick overview of how costs are determined

What does it cost to attend °µÍø51? Every student’s fees look a little different - this information will help explain why.

  • Year of study - first and second year courses cost less than third and fourth year courses.
  • Number of classes - the more you take, the more you pay.
  • Additional program costs - some courses have lab fees or other material fees.
  • Textbooks - textbook costs vary from course to course. When you register, a personalized list of required textbooks is created in your account so you know approximately how much to set aside for books. Log in to to view your book list.
  • Additional fees  - student's union fees, student activity fees, U-Pass BC, etc.

Understanding financial aid

No matter your background or financial situation, °µÍø51 is committed to making education accessible. Our financial aid programs are designed to support you, whether you need a little help or a lot. Start here to learn what you qualify for and how to apply.

Awards generally acknowledge outstanding achievements or contributions to the community or a combination of merit achievements with a demonstrated financial need. 

Bursaries are non-repayable funds awarded to eligible students who apply and demonstrate financial need. Bursaries are a supplemental source of funding and should not be treated as a primary source of funding while attending °µÍø51. Please note that due to the high volume of applications received each term, payment of funds may not occur until the middle of the term of application. We encourage you to plan accordingly. 

Scholarships recognize and support the outstanding academic achievement of our students. Other factors for scholarships, such as your °µÍø51 program, community involvement and/or financial need, could also be required or considered when making selections. For awards that have a GPA requirement, the selection committee(s) will consider overall GPA unless otherwise stated for individual scholarships.

Are you new to °µÍø51? If you’re starting your studies coming from high school or another post-secondary institution, you may be eligible for entrance scholarships or awards. These recognitions celebrate students who excel academically and actively contribute to their communities.

There are a variety of one-time scholarships or awards of up to $3,500 and renewable scholarships or awards of up to $20,000, payable over four years.

Student loans at °µÍø51 provide financial assistance to help cover your tuition, books and living expenses while you focus on your studies. These loans are offered through government programs and must be repaid after you finish your education, usually with flexible repayment options.

Student grants provide valuable financial support that you don’t have to pay back. These grants are typically based on financial need, specific programs or personal circumstances, helping to reduce the cost of your education.
